Yarm 1914

Yarm1914 research believe that Francis Henry (Frank) died of wounds on 30 April 1916. It is likely that he was born in 1887 in Stockton. His father Thomas Bray was an iron worker from Jarrow and married to Mary from Newcastle. Their eldesr children Elizabeth A, Joseph W, Robert H and Mary H were all born in Jarrow. The family then moved to Stockton and in 1891 were living in 4 Wren Street with newly born Thomas R. By 1901 the family had split and Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary, Thomas and Frank moved to 63 Franklin Street in Jarrow whilst Thomas, Mary and two youngest children Andrew aged 5 and Emma aged 3 moved in with the Richards family at 22 Wren Street. By 1915 the family had come back together and were living at 98 Light Pipe Hall Road in Stockton. Frank was working as a ship plater labourer. Frank's military documents record his mother Mary to receive his war pay. He is remembered with honour at Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission certificate records his father as Thomas R. Bray, of Newsham Cottage, Newsham, Yarm-on-Tees.
